When an athlete is injured, regardless of their level it can be a true LOSS.  It is normal for grief and panic and anxiety and every emotion under the sun to surface.  It needs to be treated as a loss & recognized as such so the person can heal the body and the mind and come back stronger.  It matters.  A lot. They didn’t take it “too serious,” are not “too sad,” etc. It’s a true loss and a respect of the grieving process & understanding of the anxiety is important for that athlete.  Rushing or disregarding the grief can delay full recovery.  I have been there.
